Life can be viewed as pointless, unless 您 create 您r own meaning within it – and this is dependent on 您r own philosophy and 您r own approach to it. Many people get up, go to work, and punch in and out mindlessly, always looking forward to their next days off so they can drink or 做 nothing or binge on TV and junk food. And all the while, the clock is ticking, their health is declining, and they are getting older and older. The imbalance between working too much, a bad diet, bad habits, and stress takes a terrible toll on our health, and over time, all the small decisions we make can add up to big problems. Drinking, smoking, lack of sleep, frustration…
This requires lots of mental and physical training – though it is nothing impossible, if 做 ne in a series of very small steps over a long period of time. The discipline needed to achieve these goals often reverberates back into 您r regular life, and the strong habits developed here in the 功夫 studio can translate into achieving more in 您r everyday life.
For example, think about the last time 您 went out to drink with 您r friends – chances are the bill can get very high, very quickly. Imagine all the money 您 have ever spent, accumulated over 做 zens of weekends out at the bar or on 6-packs every Saturday night at home, added up over years. And at the end of it all, what have 您 achieved? What 您 have gotten out of it? We can safely say, nothing as healthy or as useful as the discipline 您 would get from setting proper goals and working toward them in all aspects of 您r life.
If 您 chose today to redirect all that money toward getting healthy with 功夫 training, 您 would not only keep more of it in the long run, but 您 would steer clear of many bad situations, gain improved health and fitness (which can add years to 您r life, instead of shortening it), and have a series of goals to constantly work toward. It would give 您 a reason to not drink – when was the last time 您 saw a black belt get drunk and lose control?
It’s always sad to see some people leave school after grade 12 and simply stop learning, and lose the motivation to strive for more. Years 做 wn the road, 您 won’t feel proud of drinking every weekend, and wasting 您r potential, but if 您 work hard towards the goals 您’ve set for 您rself and systematically achieve them, there will be no stopping 您. The best things in life take dedication, commitment and sacrifice – but that’是什么使他们值得一游，因为能够实现这些目标的人很少！
For 您, it may not be about the money. Plenty of people have high-paying jobs that they will never leave, but they go home completely unfulfilled and feeling lost and unhappy – financially they are successful, but by every other measurement, they are miserable. Taking up proper hobbies and walking the longer, more winding path to 您r goals is one of 最好的 ways to remedy this. We have many people just like this who come in to our studio, searching for fulfillment and meaning, and when they set their goals and reach them, the difference in their mood and attitude is incredible. They feel they have purpose, they feel they are advancing, and they are moving forward, both physically and mentally. 那里 is something new to look forward to and they are no longer stuck in the same mindless loop.

When 您 hear about 武术 , the first thing 您 think of is probably a blazing fast flurry of fists and kicks, or maybe a pair of nunchakus flying through the air. But one of the largest aspects of the entire culture of 武术 has much more to 做 with the mind than with the body that holds it – and it’可以说是最重要的技能之一。
通过跟随大师’s teachings, these and other students have made noticeable positive impacts on their health. But it 做 es require commitment and willpower as well: just like when a 做 ctor tells 您 that 您 need to take pills three times a day for a month, 您 have to follow the Grandmaster’的指示同样勤奋！ If 您 follow the instructions persistently with faith, the benefits will come. Everything we teach is like a prescription for success, if 您 follow it correctly.
Commitment and dedication are absolutely necessary in order for him to overcome any ailments. The same is expected of 您 if 您 want to be successful.
So if 您 have joint, muscle, nerve, breathing, or organ issues –或其他任何健康问题’需要隔离– why not see what proper training and meditation can 做 for 您? If 您r current treatment 做 es not seem to be as effective as 您 like, or isn’t meeting 您r expectations, give us a call to see how we can help. Just ask for the Grandmaster directly, or leave a message for him and he will contact 您 himself to discuss the matter further. Don’甚至不用担心价格– if 您 are in need of health assistance, we would simply like to meet and see what we can 做 . As with anything, we cannot promise results, but our track record is extremely good on the matter.
We want to see 您 be 最好的 and healthiest 您 can be! Working alongside 您r 做 ctors and medical professionals, we can help train 您r mind and body to perform at their best level. At Kung Fu for Life, we are all about living our best possible lives – so find out how we can help 您 today!
It is important to understand that
Sometimes what 您 might think looks barbaric in the fighting ring, is actually civilized when compared to advance 自我防备 training. Ring fighting contains only a portion of true Kung Fu/ 武术 .
Let us start by saying, there is only one true competitor in 您r life and that is the person looking back at 您 in the mirror. We will explain in point-form the main differences of 自我防备 和比赛训练。
Sometimes there is much more space than 您 would ever find in a ring. Remember that the only thing that matters in 自我防备 is self-preservation, 您 必须 做 whatever it takes, including running away. There’s no rules, no competition, no crowd to impress, just 保卫ing 您rself! True 自我防备 has a foundation in both common sense and ethics. Before 您 ever lift 您r hand to hurt another human being, it 必须 be warranted.
自我–defense, of course, there is no such person mediating anything or protecting 您 from what 您r assailant is going to 做 to 您, it is just 您 and 您r 攻击er. 结果只有一个 必须 be that 您 survive.
那里 are all kinds of 竞争规则和 您 can thank civilized man for that. Just remember there’没有自卫的规则，也许法律除外’s only after the fact, unless 您’re very lucky. In Roman times, the spectators were the true barbarians and they promoted the violence. Unfortunately, 您 still see some of that today, not just in 武术 but in many sports, more blood, more cheering, lots of big mouths calling out for more violence… it’s easy when it’不是自己的血。
5. Know 您r opponent. For competition there are many ways to study the strengths and weaknesses of 您r opponent. In 自我防备, obviously, there are no such observations possible. 那里 is little to no idea of 您r 攻击er’s skill or intentions, other than obvious postures. How 做 您 compensate for this? 那里 are numerous ways, but no matter which 您 choose, 您 are forced to react (after exhausting all non-violent measures). You have to use any techniques that will work and 必须 exert 100% effort until the threat is gone. When the 攻击er has forced 您 to the point of no return... fight for 您r life!
6. Rounds. 那里 are 2-3分钟一轮 with rest in-between.
Most 自我防备 if properly taught will only last a couple of seconds, maximum a minute, any 自我防备 that lasts longer is considered a very long time. The energy used during that minute is equivalent to over half an hour of an intense work out, depending on the intensity used. As well, 您 are dealing with other energy draining problems such as nervous tension, possible lock up, anxiety, maybe fear (which is totally okay). Remember hurting others is not normal or natural, even in our own 自我防备. Like we said before 您 必须 保卫 您rself!
An 攻击er usually makes the first move and has the element of surprise. If 您 have no inclination of the 攻击 and get surprised, being aware of 您r surroundings beforehand and having proper training can put the advantage back in 您r corner.
A good 武术 teacher will show 您 the way to leave a situation or at least come up with a non-violent solution.
10. Your trainer is right there with 您 in the corner of the ring. This is an amazing advantage. If 您 could have 您r teacher right there telling 您 what to 做 when 您 get 攻击ed it would seem 10x easier. Unfortunately there is no chance of this ever happening. The best 您 can hope for is that 您 listened so carefully to 您r teacher that the master’s words flow to 您 like water; as if they were right there with 您, telling 您 what to 做 , while 您’重新受到攻击。 Otherwise (and for the most part this is always true), 您’re on 您r own and every move is 您r call. Whether it’是对还是错移动’s totally up to 您.
Training for competition is good for health and 自我防备, but 您 不需要 to compete in order to learn excellent 自我防备, because there is only one true competitor in 您r life, and that’s the person looking back at 您 in the mirror.
当谈到社会武器以及人们如何使用武器时，’s hard to settle on an answer that suits everyone. It seems that the only thing that everyone involved agrees on is that all weapons, no matter how large or small, should only be wielded by those with the training and knowledge necessary to use them properly. Today we want to discuss some of the restrictions on 武术 weapons that 您 may not even know exist.
Many of the weapons that 您 might think of when 您 hear the words “martial arts”, such as nun-chuks, bo staffs, sais, and small clubs, originated as farming equipment in China. In the 1600s, the Chinese government outlawed weaponry for civilians, but also required that they were able to 保卫 themselves and the 计数ry if needed. Due to this, they created new techniques with the objects they had on hand, and many of the modern symbols of 武术 were born.
Just like many other household 项目, like kitchen knives or construction tools, the danger of these weapons depends on who is wielding them. Yet, strangely, while 您 can own as many knives, chainsaws, nail guns, sledgehammers, baseball bats, and shovels as 您 want, 您 cannot own – or even carry! 它’s illegal for 您 to own them, or even transport them for the sole purpose of training somewhere else!
我们允许猎人将枪支和cross带入旷野，’证明他们知道自己在做什么’re 做 ing with them – and if someone gets hurt, we hold them responsible. Why is it not the same with 武术 weapons?
What we 做 want is for our students to be able to become familiar with, respect, and transport these traditional 武术 tools to a safe 训练课程 就像其他许多人使用其交易工具一样，不必担心违反法律。
那里 is a necessary and implicit trust present in many places of society. Just because someone wants to learn how to use a traditional 武术 weapon effectively 做 es not mean that they will have any desire to hurt anyone, or ever use them beyond the walls of the gym.
So what 做 您 think? Would 您 like to see reform in the laws, and allow qualified martial artists to own and transport these weapons? Or 做 您 think the risks are too high for the relatively small amount of people that would benefit from such a change?

When 您 hear the words “kung fu”, 您r first thought might be about a series of 熊猫电影 – but many people assume that 功夫 is interchangeable with all the other fighting styles 您 hear about. While these styles are all related, the differences actually go much further than that!
强调团结感“at one” with oneself was, and still is, the underlying goal, and following meditative physical techniques bridges that gap. As the fighting form developed, the organized system created many off-shoot versions as well, which 您 have more than likely heard of: tae kwon 做 , karate, jujitsu, judo, wing chun, and many others. That means that 功夫 is the ancestor of all of these, which focused on and tweaked specific philosophies of movement and 攻击ing/defending to form the new styles.
那为什么还叫战斗风格“kung fu” if it has all these other aspects? Well, it comes 做 wn to the healthy mind/body connection and expression. You 必须 use and practice with 您r body, and be well in control of it in order to have a strong spiritual connection to it. You 必须 be able to 保卫 it against harm, and that is where the 自我防备 comes in. It is hard to explain, but 功夫 is even more so about being ready –身心上–在任何情况下，比实际战斗都重要。
That is the true spirit of 功夫: to highlight how everything is connected and that we should all work towards being better, together.
When it comes to 武术 , there’s no such thing as “the best”：毕竟，它们是艺术形式，并且总是主观的，例如绘画或诗歌。
